Simply Simple

Light on gears, heavy on fun

Single-speed, single pivot. Riding bikes shouldn’t be complicated.

Think of the Beady Little Eye as a hardtail with a bit more give, a bit more grip and a bit less chatter from the trail. Super-low BB, zero sag, super fun, crazy fast. All the fun of a hardtail but without the jarring landings on big hits.

The first thing to know about the Beady Little Eye is that the chain line is offset from the main pivot/BB centreline. There’s some bob from pedalling, so you run a firm shock with lots of low-speed compression. But the frame is designed with a very regressive leverage ratio, so when there’s a big hit, the suspension moves.

And because of the 90mm rear travel, there’s more grip and less trail chatter than a rigid frame. Not loads, but enough, and that’s the fun of it.

Sounds odd on paper, but in practice, the Beady Little Eye is an absolute blast. It might well be the most fun you can have on two wheels.

“The Starling Murmur’s feel is second to none. Its raw stainless steel front triangle is elegantly simple and sleek, round tubing speaks of the beauty found in function over form. The Murmur is a bike that’s built to be ridden, plain and simple.”

“This is simply a shredder of a mountain bike… The idea of a simple, low-maintenance frame that I’m not afraid to ride hard, put away wet, and toss into the weeds on occasion, is appealing. Perhaps a bit indicative of my predilection for slightly off-kilter rides, but this is the kind of bike I’d keep for a good long time, and never get bored of. “
